Meet Kathleen Aderhold: The X's Expert in Nutrition and Empowerment

This week, we’re spotlighting Kathleen Aderhold, a powerhouse dietitian, nutritionist, and coach who’s been transforming lives for over 20 years. With her wealth of experience and passion for wellness, Kathleen is here to guide you in optimizing your nutrition and fitness for long-term success.

From "Sick Care" to True Wellness Kathleen’s journey began in healthcare, where she spent 14 years as a registered dietitian. But she always felt that wellness—not just managing illness—was her true calling. After becoming a certified personal trainer in 2018 and teaching group fitness, she finally found her perfect fit in coaching. "I joined The X in November 2023, and I’m passionate about empowering others through nutrition and fitness. There’s nothing better than seeing someone discover that good nutrition and exercise are more powerful than any prescription."

A Personal Journey Turned Passion As a child, Kathleen struggled with being overweight, which fueled her interest in nutrition. "Before high school, I joined Weight Watchers and learned about calories, protein, carbs, and fat. I lost 30 pounds and maintained it throughout high school, which made me a faster athlete. That experience showed me firsthand how fueling your body the right way can make all the difference."

Coaching Philosophy: Systems for Success Kathleen’s approach to coaching is both strategic and compassionate. "I’ve adopted a principle-based, systems approach that optimizes key concepts like S.A.I.D., the two-rep rule, and the five-pound rule from The X. My goal is to help people find what works for them and equip them with a system they can rely on for life." Kathleen’s secret weapon? Asking the right questions. "I get to know my clients well and design programs that meet them where they are while taking them where they want to be."

Strength, Success, and Fun Facts When it comes to personal strength, Kathleen is all about the deadlift. "There’s something empowering about lifting more than your body weight!" Her most memorable success story? Helping a skeptical client—who had previously seen no progress—lose 20 pounds in just three months.

Outside of the gym, Kathleen’s interests range from reading and gardening to hiking and learning new skills. "I would love to learn how to sail one day!" she says with a smile. And when she’s not working, she loves spending quality time chatting with her three kids.

Kathleen’s Tips for Fitness Success Kathleen’s advice for those starting their fitness journey is simple yet powerful: "Be patient. Building muscle is hard work and it takes time, but trust the process." To stay motivated herself, she meditates, journals, listens to podcasts, tracks progress, and enjoys long walks in nature.
